Wasn't part of my musical education growing up so I discovered him via Blade, around the time when I started to nerd out on films and wanted to know more about supporting cast.

What a life/career the fella had!

I thought he did, then I saw it credited to Johny Cash, I guess it's because Cash had a No 1 with it, original singer was Ray Stevens 1969 I don't recall hearing his version but probably have.
It's a song I have sung many a Sunday morning.

I'm not a fan of country music by any stretch of the imagination, but have to admit he had a bloody good voice.

I bought a lot of his music some 45 years ago, despite the fact that I wasn't into Country. The man was just something special and wrote some great songs.

May he rest in eternal peace.

I think Willie once said something like "it's a good job Kris wasn't as good a singer as he was a songwriter, or the rest of us would never have got a look in". It shows how highly regarded he was as a writer.
