Regardless of whether or not one approves of his products, there is no disputing that he was a very interesting character.
A manufacturer of knives and trenching tools for the Austrian military, during one meeting he overheard two officers discussing a contract to develop a new pistol for the Austrian army. Glock fancied some of that, and despite having no experience with firearms went and designed one and won the contract. During testing he used his left hand to test fire the guns, so if one exploded his right would be uninjured and he could continue work.
Famously survived an assasination attempt by knocking one of his assailants unconscious. Allegations of interesting tax arrangements and fondness for call-girls, but none of the accusations stuck. Love him or hate him, the world is a duller place for his passing.
