Quill stem converter stem problem

Bought a stem converter from Ribble thinking it was for 31.8mm stems and oversized bars but its not.

Its for 25.4mm so can I get a stem for 25.4mm and oversized bars and if so what am I looking for?

Probably really obvious but the dimensions aren't clear on adverts for stems.

So converter clamp 25.4mm and bar clamp 31.8mm

Right, having rooted about I can see you can get a shim to fit it. Why they didn't say what size the converter goes to I don't know. Only gives the inside fork dimensions. Not sure I want to use a shim as well as a converter, seems kinda messy.

I thought you needed a quill stem converter that would convert from a 1" to 1 1/8" and then use a stem for whatever size bars you want to use.

Don't think you'll get a stem to fit a 1" steerer and 31.8mm bars.

You either need the shim to fit an 1 1/8" stem or different bars.

Well...not quite. You asked '...can I get a stem for 25.4mm and oversized bars...?' Then realised you could get a shim.

Having spent some time looking for a 1" stem to fit 31.8mm bars (a while ago) I was just sharing the benefit of my experience

I have a shimmed converter with OS bars on my single speed - Once they are on you can't see the shim and it works fine

I'm afraid this adaptor will not do without extra shim - but you can get converters that convert from 1" to 1 1/8"

Ribble have emailed back and are exchanging it for me, even though I have fitted it, if I can find the packaging. Nice!

I always find that Ribble's products description lack information.
