Hi all, last week I had the good news that the showers at work are broken and they are not going to be repaired for a while (2 weeks maybe). I found myself getting out less and less during the weekends (time, weather). So I'm starting to think about a turbo trainer. I've read a bit but the real issue should be the noise (I live in a flat, ground floor). I have no real idea of how much noisy this can be. Do you think if I buy something in the range of £150 I should be OK?
Do you have any suggestions for a quiet but not extremely expensive one?
Thanks

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Most turbos make a noise., its the nature of the beast, but if you put an exercise mat underneath this will deaden the noise considerably. and I wouldn't bother with anything expensive either. Have a look on ebay. You can get one for £50 to £60. They will do the job very nicely for you.

I'll second that on fans, once you get them spinning they sound like a jet taking off.

Other than that the biggest noise seems to come from the tyre.

Slightly above you're budget but I have the same issues and went for a Elite Turbo Muin. Its as quiet as your drivechain, so I've no hesitation using it around 8-9pm.

If it's a ground floor flat I'd not worry too much. People have problems when they live above others. The noise transmits through the floor. You shouldn't have this issue on ground floor. Put something underneath to protect your carpet or whatever from flying chain lube and you're away. You will need a fan though the bigger the better. Mines a 24" job and works nicely.

I have one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cycleops-fluid-2-trainer/ and can use in conservatory while family are in living room with no problem (no doors in between to block noise.). On a ground floor you should have zero problem

Thanks all of you. I wanted for sure to go for a magnetic or fluid one. I see what I'll found on eBay... Or maybe I'll wait for after Xmas offers. For now I started to run to keep my legs moving
