Hi all, I've been reading your forum a long time but this is my first message. Well, actually I have the kit of spanish champion of Movistar, bought on cycling-monton, both bibshorts and jersey on a M size. I want to buy the official kit of Saxo Bank (the blue one) in Wiggle, but in the bibshorts they only have the XXL size...

Well, my height is 1'94 (6'3") and my weight is more and less 70 kg (154 pounds).

The M size of cycling monton is too short and too tight for me, and I'd like this new saxo bank kit to be longer, for example in the way Wiggins uses his clothes, really "long", covering the arms until the elbow and the legs until the knee:

But I'm afraid that the XXL for the bibshorts is too much since I'm skinny...

Well, thank you for your help and please forgive me for my english, I'm spanish so it's kind of hard for me!

Hi and welcome.

My guess is that Wiggin's kit is specifically made either for him or for team sky. The linked picture is of his skinsuit, so I'd say it was tailor made.

Different teams, different manufacturers do design and cut their kit differently. Sky may have a longer leg length than Saxo Bank. Assos have different leg length to Giordana, etc etc etc. So to get the cut you want, you may have to buy a specific team/manufacturer. What's more important to you, the leg length or the team?

Beyond that, sizing does change according to manufacturer. Italian makes are generally (always?) smaller - maybe Mediuim in the UK would be an XXL in Italy, that sort of thing.

I don't know who makes Saxo Bank kit, so don't know the sizing, but I'd be prepared to guess that XXL would be too big for you.

Thanks for the quick answer! The Saxo Bank kit is the official one made for Sportful, they're Italian I think!

I don't really mind about the team, well I prefer to have the "full" kit you know, bibshorts and jersey from the same team. But yeah I guess that XXL is too much, my legs are reeeeeeeeeally long but not really big (or wide, I don't know the exact word). The M of Cycling Monton is too tight (and short) for my legs, I look like Voeckler hahaha. Yeah it's a pity that in Wiggle they only have the XXL size of that bib shorts!

I've sent an email to sportful, so let's see what they say, but I'm already aware that the XXL is going to be too wide for me, even if the length is perfect. I don't have a good body for cycling clothes hahaha

You are tall and thin, there are plenty of manufacturers who make clothes that will suit you, in particular the Italian brands, they tend to be very slim fitting, thus you can size up to gain the length without sacrificing the skin hugging fit (to a degree obviously if you are a M on paper and buy a XXL you will have something that doesn't fit, but one size up is usually safe). I am a similar build to you, albeit a bit heavier, 6'3" and about 10kg heavier and have used Castelli kit in sizes ranging from L (normal jersey) to XL (skinsuit). I had to get a XL skinsuit to cope with my wider shoulders and longer torso (the L was too tight across my chest) yet the arms and legs still fit perfectly snug.

Thank you very much for your answer, very helpful! I guess my perfect size must be an L, maybe (maybe!) XL if they are "slim fitting" as you've said (sorry for my english again!), but yeah XXL must be too much for me! I'll keep looking!

Hi all guys! Well the clothes have arrived today. I was hopeless with the size of the bibshorts but surprise! They fit me really good! I can't say they're perfect (XL would be perfect) but they're tight in all the parts, and I can feel the great quality of the materials both in the shorts and the jersey, nothing to do with the quality of cycling-monton...
