Hi,

I have a shimano 105 (5700) double setup. I have the 5701 rear derailiuer that can take a 32 tooth rear cassette. Shimao doesn't make such a cassette, the closest is their tiagra 4600 12-30.

Is the SRAM PG-1050 compatible with my setup? It says the recommended groupset is Apex.

Paul.

PS- Yes, I know its a proper wuss out, but the dragon ride is coming up and I haven't got much training in - every little helps!

PPS- This cassette is only for the really hilly sportives.

PPPS- Yes, I know about Rule #5

I think all the 10 speed stuff kinda gets along just fine. I often ride Campag cassette with Shimano deraileur and vice versa. No problems. It's when you start mixing shifter/deraileurs that you have potential for problems.

Shimano MTB cassettes have the larger tooth counts, and would be compatible. If you want to stick with shimano this is.

SRAM and Shimano are interchangeable so you'll have no probs. My SRAM Rival gruppo came with a Shimano 105 cassette.
You should get a new chain at the same time though.

I managed to pick up a SRAM PG1070 10 Speed 11-32T for the tourer from Fudges for £44 a couple of months ago and that was the same price as the PG1050 in a lot of places so shop around a bit.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I have got a new chain on it

I had to get what was in stock at Parker International and get it fitted asap so I can have a few trial runs before the dragon ride.
