My rear brake isn't workind (eek.)

I'm going to have a little go at adjusting it as I need to pop out later.

Brake adjustment is considered mens work round here, hence I've never tried it before, but TMOTH isn't home til 10 tonight.

Can any one recomend a good instructional youtube video - Brakes for dummies kind of thing.

It's a side pull brake (I think).

If it's not working due to the pad wearing and therefore not gripping the rim tight enough, you'll just need to tweak the cable tension. There's a barrel adjusted by the lever. Turn it so the adjuster unscrews, that'll tighten the cable. More detail, plus other info on the Park Tools website here

Side pull as in standard calliper. Pay attention to the cable and that it runs free. If you don't have a replacement cable, pull the cable out of the outer and give it a good wipe down, oil it and refit. Bank on needing a new cable soon.

The callipers rarely have any issues. Certainly no problems on my callipers on bikes 25 years old, cables are the usual suspect.

Did you manage Sara?

Of course not!

I had to get my non electrc bike out, on the hottest day of the year! Wouldn't mind, but I only had to go for a short meeting at work, when I got there they rang to say it was cancelled!!!!

I feel for you: I find this heat hard to cycle in.
Can't help notice no ill effects from riding the non elec, even in the heat. Well done, you must be well on the road of recovery :bravo:

Yes it wasn't too bad! I just felt a bit out of condition - I've put a fair bit of weight on whilst I've been off work.
Maybe its time to start alternating my rides and start ramping up the fitness.
