This problem will probably make most sense to anyone who's familiar with Quattro road pedals but any advice would be welcome.
I'm just renovating a pair of these pedals which requires the side plate (side away from the crank) removal to access the outboard bearing. The side plate is held on by a pair of long very slim bolts (you can just see the heads sticking out very slightly on the photo in the above link) which go through the body of the pedal parallel to the axle. The bolt has a 1.5mm Allen key hole and the 'nut' (about the size and shape of a spoke nipple) has a 2mm Allen key hole. On the first pedal, the bolts unscrewed easily - if a little fiddly - but on the second pedal the 1.5mm hole rounded. I first tried Loctite on that side but it wasn't strong enough, so then I tapped in a small torq key into the hole but the other side (the 2mm hole) then rounded as well. Too beeping soft
Two torq keys embedded and the things still won't unscrew.
I've tried drilling out the nut side but the bolt spins in the hole pretty quickly - even Loctiting the other side isn't enough to stop it spinning.
So now I'm stuck, any suggestions welcome - other than chucking the pedals, I'll contact Crank Brothers first.
I forgot to mention that the rebuild kits come with new bolts/nuts so destroying them in the process of removal isn't a big deal but obviously I'd prefer to minimise damage to the pedal body itself.
