I am looking for recommendations for a quality, high-pressure pump for road bike tyres.

I broke the valve on my mini-pump on a sportive ride at the weekend which annoyed me as I paid about £30 for it and this was the first time I've had to use it. I'm looking around for a reliable replacement but I wanted to ask opinions on here before I part with any money.

I have three main requirements - firstly, I need a pump that can get a road bike tyre to at least 90 - 100psi. Secondly, a pump that has a frame mount that can share the waterbottle cage mount on the seat tube. And thirdly, I'd quite like a pump that has a hose attachment rather than a pump that connects directly to the presta valve.

I have previously owned two Topeak road morph pumps which have been great at getting tyres beyond 100psi, but they are bulky and awkward to carry and I have found the frame mount for them doesn't sit very securely on the bike frame - the pump rattles about all the time and I lost one of them on a ride last year when it bounced out of the mount and went under the wheels of a passing car!

Any suggestions?

Topeak Road Morph.
It's a sort-of folding track pump, and will get a road tyre up to 130 psi pretty quickly.
Comes with a bottle-cage mounting bracket. Heavier than a mini-pump, sure, but it actually works.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

Three suggestions:
(a) CO2 cartridges. Convenient, quick to deploy, easy to carry.
(b) Tyres that are more puncture-resistant. It's probably 3000 miles since the last on-road visitation I've had to deal with - most of them on tandems.
(c) If it's still available, a zefal HP of the traditional frame-mounting kind - you may need to bodge a clip of some kind.

Alternatively, the forum is littered with recommendations for the sort of thing you've suggested.

Lezyne Pressure Drive.

90-100psi is easy peasy, and you can go beyond that if you put a little effort in. Comes with a hose with a neat little button that eliminates pressure within the hose itself so it's easier to remove from the valve. I bought mine with the intention of getting a CO2 system as well, but it's so easy to use that there's no need for the gas.

Lezyne pumps seem to have a good reputation. That said, I used 4 cable ties to attach a Topeak Road Morph to my seat tube the other day and haven't noticed any rattling at all. This was using the tube mount - I don't know about the bottle cage mount. I suppose it would do just as well on the down tube alongside the bottle, though it would be off-centre. On the other hand, yes, they are a little bulky...

I wonder if either of these will fit the bill....

I have to confess I only have used the road morph - found it to be great - I can understand about it being bulky - it lives in my rucksack so is not an issue for me. If I were in the market for a frame mounted one I'd go for one of these....Guess you can read the reviews and see what users of these think.....

Thanks but as I stated in my original post, I already had two Topeak morphs. They are indeed excellent and reliable pumps, but I just find them too bulky and their frame mount is rubbish.
