QR Hubs & Axle threads.

I have old Shimano QR 105 hubs on my wheels with an 8 speed cassette on the rear. The axle threads only extend 3/4 of the way into the frame's dropouts.

Is this normal?

Yes, perfectly normal.

Otherwise the quick release skewer wouldn't hold the wheel in the frame!
