Hi Guys 'n' Gals, Just got a new bike for Christmas to get me back into cycling after a nasty accident a few years ago...The bike came BOXED and needed a little assembly So Question...the front QR skewer open cam, needs inserting into the wheel does it matter which side it fastens on? due to the fact i have never had to assemble a QR before newbie;) Thanks for now...

It doesn't matter, but virtually everyone has the lever on the left to match the rear.

the rear one HAS to go on the left?
it's not that it will interfere with something, but that it *looks like it might* interfere with something. so on a mtb, is it better to look like it might interfere with the mech, or look like it might interfere with the disc?

The disc is inside the stays, the mech is on the outside.

On the left.

When you install the wheel and tighten the QR, fold the QR lever rearward.

If you get in crash with another rider, they don't want your front QR lever stabbing their leg.

hmm. only exception would be if it's bolt through you've got no choice. e.g. my mtb has an axle that screws in and a QR that you then insert that seems to serve no oher purpose than to stop the bolt through coming undone. not sure which side its on tho
