Put a rack on it!

If your buying a new mountain bike get the shop to include a rack. I'm sick and tired quite frankly of seeing people with shopping bags slung over their handle bars or with an Everest expedition size back pack on thier backs. This practice causes all sorts of injury problems and you will be much more accident prone. If you have a mountain bike without a rack then go and spend £20 or so on one. They are easy to fix with only 4 allen screws, are ajustable to fit any bike any will take up to 100kgs in weight.

Agreed; but why would you need a rack on a mountain bike? Unfortunately, most mountain bikes don't have braze-ons for racks. and you're pretty much SOL if it's full suspension, unless you use a seatpost rack.

The question might be: why did you buy a mountain bike if you want to transport stuff and commute? The proper bike for that use is a city/hybrid/utility bike. The big problem is that the average shop, manufacturer, bike designer is not responding to the needs of the average person and the public aren't educating themselves.

Are you a rack manufacturer, middle-person or retailer?

I do have a rack on my MTB/hybrid.

It's has the all essential "clippy thing" and is adapted from my sister's old Raleigh. Total cost £0.

But if I want to bring home my shopping or whatever, I find my Raleigh 20 much better for load carrying.
