More punctures on thin road tyres is a myth.
Firstly, they have a smaller area of contact, and secondly, it all depends on how many beer glasses were broken on the road the previous night.

I run Conti Supersonic 20 mm at 140 psi on my road bikes and haven't ( touch wood ) had a P*ncture for five years. It was on the island at A5 and M6 Toll. I remember it because I'd just departed Fitness First Cannock and ridden through a patch of glittery clear stuff.
On my MTB, I run Conti Ultragatorskin 26 x 1.125 at 100 psi and my last P*ncture was September. That was at the top of Leamington Spa parade outside a pub called The White Horse.

For tyres I rate Conti Ultragatorskins. However I then got tempted to try some dirt cheap Schwalbe Blizzard Sport tyres for the pathetic reason that they came in red or blue to match my bikes! Also I got them for about £5.99 each. Nor currently as cheap but a 30 sec search threw them up here http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...le&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_name=UnitedKingdom for £9.47 and I think ebay will have them.

Re turbo trainers, excellent for winter training. I do a weekly session with my tri club which is much less boring. Re rollers, if new to this, google bicycle roller crashes and see what videos you find. In fact this http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=bicycle+roller+crashes+video&l=1

Thanks to you all for your feedback. I must admit, the rollers would be my 2nd choice (especially when you look at the footage on you tube, the guy with the mattress on the floor next to his bike on rollers says it all!

I have seen a tacx one Satori pro T1830 turbo trainer advertised in Decathlon for £130.00. Does that sound about right for a reasonable T.T? It wont be just a fad, I will use it when the weather is way too bad to ride. outside.
Would appreciate your feedback. TYIA.:bicycle:
