Hi All

This may or may not be the right place for this so moderators please feel free to move it if you want to.

I have recently got a Giant Talon 1 29er and i'm using the stock tryres it came with. I have had many more punctures than I did on my old 26inch bike. On my old bike I had Continental Traction Pro's on front and back and NEVER had a puncture.

I am also now using Slime inner tubes on my 29er and Still had another one today that the slime couldn't deal with.

All my punctures have been small slices in the tyre causing a rapid deflation.

What's the equivelant of the Conti Traction Pro in 29 these days?

Regards to you all and safe cycling

are you running the tyres too soft?

That does seem high tbh but certainly is'nt too low (I was thinking of pinch flats).

All I can tell you is that on the trails I run 26 front 30 rear on my 26er (I'm about 12 and a half stone) but if the shop tells you 40 then I assume that's right.

I can't help with your question, other than to say it does sound like a tyre issue rather than a pressure issue.

If you don't get anywhere by asking on forums (I run Conti tyres on my MTB, but I've never heard of Traction Pro), having a look at the reviews on sites like Wiggle and Chain Reaction might give you some ideas for further research.

if the tyre is getting cut, then it isn't pinch flats. sounds lke you need a tyre with a strnger/thicker carcass.... or ride a different route.
