Yes I'm doing it!

It's going to be a cold one that's for sure but I'd rather that than rain any day.

Can't wait to get going tomorrow!

Absolutely cracking ride!

70 miles
5 hrs 55 min - including one 5 min food stop, rest non stop with the final run up the Beacon surprisingly easy (is easy the word?)
temp 3 C all day!

I found that very tough today and the final run up the Beacon was anything but easy! 5h16m for me, I was really hoping to get inside the 5hr mark but didn't quite manage it.

It was a very well organised event IMO, however it was my first Sportive so didn't really know what to expect. The amazing (but cold) weather really helped make it a great day.

I will have a couple of days reflection now while I work out which event to do next; this evening however I am not inclined to book anything for the rest of the year...!

Very well organized, esp for effectively a one man show!

the view off the Beacon, i've never come down the north side before, was amazing: Crisp, clear see forever!

Coming down the Beacon was fast - I have never had to brake for so long so hard - my arms and hands were aching by the time I reached the bottom.

Was I the only person there riding with an aluminium frame? There were some lovely bikes out today and almost all of them seemed to be full carbon. I love my bike (Specialized Secteur Sport) but I was almost ashamed to be on it today!

If you were on the Tricross with full mudguards then I saw you as you entered the sports pavillion back at the recreation ground when you finished!

I was in the car park failing miserably to round up my two young daughters who were running all over the sports field - I couldn't bring my self to run after them so had to wait for them to come back to the car!

I know EXACTLY how you felt!

I've just got up from the sofa to put the kettle on and had to roll off onto all fours and lever myself up!

My first sportive too. In fact first time i've cycled more than 50 miles. Managed to get round under 5 hours. The last 6 miles into headwind took it out of me. The granny ring got me up the beacon ok. Fantastic day, didn't feel the cold once i got pedalling. Very relieved i didn't burn out. Hmm, where next?
