I have 2 bikes with presta valves and I have been trying to inflate the tyres with a shrader hand pump with an adapter. this has been a nightmare as more air seems to be escaping than going in.

So i have decided to go for a proper floor pump designed for Presta valves. Any recommendations?

I spent a bit of time trying to find something good and the best i could find was the Revolution Air Track Pump Pro from edinburgh bike (£25), it goes to 160psi and decent heavy and well made pump, you can also get parts to repair when they wear out.

The topeak Joe blow sport also has good reviews, but this is £5 more so thats why I got the above!
If you don't want to spend that much, Lidl are selling bike stuff from next Thursday - pump for £7

The Lidl track pumps are only just usable - I only use mine to pump the MTB/kids tyres. The thing would explode if used on my road bikes - got an ancient steel Silka track pump for them - over 20 years old, never missed a beat.

I'd also recommend a decent pump for in your back pocket whilst out as well..... Blackburn airsticks are great, also the Decathlon Clever 900 - doubles as a mini track pump....

I use a topeak mini that attaches to the frame. It has a small pressure gauage but I doubt it's accuracy. However, it is good and lightweight to carry with you though you have to be fairly strong to raech 110psi. For this reason I think I will be investing in a track pump soon.

anyone tried any of the specialized ones?
Well reviewed in C+ pump megatest, as was the bike mountable (and excellent) Airtool Road.

I have an SKS Rennkompressor in the garage as my track pump.

Joe Blow track pump +1, have had it for a while now and never let me down. They tend to be on offer at CRC...
