Evening!

Managed to sneak out of work early so took advantage and went out for a quick blast, didn't realise how hard it would be with a head wind, cross wind and every other wind except a tail wind! Certainly gave me a workout....which I suppose is what it's all about, loved every minute though.

One thing that's gonna be on the weekend shopping list is a pair of glasses/shades as it felt like every fly, midge and mosquito in Essex seemed to find their way into my eyes - any recommendations or do I just get a cheapo pair of glasses?

The wallet is looking thinner in a week of owning a bike even if I'm not, and I'm spending more time shopping than the Mrs!

Although i hate to admit it i went to argos and bought a cheap pair from there with interchangable lenses. They work alright.

Cool. I use Aldi £3 ones, but I've on,y got sunnies ones. Claer ones would be useful when it was as cloudy as this evening. How much is screwfix delivery? Anybody know?

Lol. Just had to correct my spelling - accidentally put a d instead of an f in the company name

Pity I didn't read the rest of my spelling too. Sorry folks.

I've got Oakley ones which I wear when on the moto. They aren't cheap, but they are very good. I can ride thru dusty roadworks and my eyes are completely protected and they don't move around on your head. Also, if course, they are great for stopping the sun being a problem when it's low.

Here are mine

Holy Jaysus!!! When you said not cheap you weren't wrong!!! I would superglue those babies to my head!!! Will stick with my £25 dhb ones with interchangable lenses. ;)

Mine were £3 from Peacocks. The wife says they make me look like a bluebottle, that type of lens lol, the lens looks very dark on the outside but you'd never know when you're wearing them, everything looks light and clear, very surprisingly so in fact! I like them because I can ever wear them even when it's not so sunny, my eyes tend to water a lot from the wind when I'm riding. Apparently they offer 100% UV protection too, do they all do that now?

Another vote for the Bolle Contour - at those prices they are almost disposable!

I have a few Bolle Contour's from Arco.

they are good, and come in many shades. I've used them on almost every mile I've ridden the last couple of years and some long hard rides

thing is though over the two years I've had them I do notice they slip down my nose a lot (especially in the heat) and give me neck ache as I lift my head to look under the rim.

I am looking for a better solution right now that stays put or has a minimal upper frame. I suspect a specialist set is on the agenda. I cant abide the idea of a bungee around my head

I know they are expensive. I used to do a lot of (motor) biking but hated having my visor shut on my helmet. Then one lovely day I got a fly stuck in my eye and I wear contact lenses, very very unpleasant.
Anyway I used to have a well paid job and I bought the oakleys. They're great and like I say don't move about on your head even if you look down. I tried cheaper ones first but they still let dust etc in my eyes.

I usually get Bolle from screwfix, simply because its just down the road and Bolle are bombproof. I find after a few years the lens protection starts to crystalise but still a bargain
