Project Aende

I Was lucky enough recently to get hold of a pr of Aende bikes from forum member @Phyllosc and was so impressed that when i saw this one come up for sale as an unfinished project i could not refuse it .

Has the drilled lugs like a lot of them do , only has 1 down tube changer boss as its first life was a time trial machine and is made with Reynolds 531 professional tubing and its a 23".

Not sure what spec i am going to build to yet but will let you know .

@midlife no neither this one or the other 2 i have cut out bottom bracket shells

Mine has no cutout BB either, I think he had stopped that by the end of 70's

dont panic a normal quill stem is on the build for sure

Having as look around your frame they appear identical apart from yours has internal cable routing inside the top tube and under BB guide.

@midlife bit difficult to see your bottom bracket in the seat cluster pic

must admit i keep looking at a set of sprint & tubs i have hanging up that are Mavic gl330 rims laced on to a nice set of edco swiss made hubs with a a nice 7 speed wide ish ratio block and a single fr chain ring

looks like it last run a 3 x 9 set up !!

I really like EDCO stuff . I have some EDCO hubbed sprints and of course EDCO competition headsets. Very well engineered and bulletproof but strangely overlooked. Like SAAB I guess. Brave person running a triple on that rear triangle

not convinced it did run in that format for long but all the bits were included

the decision has been made i am going to build this up as single speed bike as i feel it might just be to big for me , so work has commenced .

I have done a days worth of commuting on this today in stage 1 of its build in single speed mode just need to swap wheels and stem over and then hopefully some fine tuning for comfort

Shaun its not that bad considering its an ex time trial machine built for somebody else , a bar and stem swap this morning shouls help as now flatish stem rather than riser one .
