Have been unable to get my computer to link up with my Garmin, used to work fine but not actually connected it for a few weeks, tried tonight but it doesn't recognise it at all.
The USB lead seems to be OK as it charges the device and turns it on as soon as I plug it in, but no joy on getting it to act as it should.
Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas before I send it back to Evans?

Have E-mailed Garmin tonight but that could take a few days.

Thanks.

Yes mate, tried both those ideas, still no joy.
Still waiting to hear anything from Garmin, Evans want me to wait for advice from Garmin before they will get involved.

Ooh bit of progress, downloaded the Garmin USB driver and the Garmin connect plug in, and it has finally 'seen' the device.
Was able to put a route on from a future forum ride link, still not working properly on the Garmin Connect site though, trying to upload stuff but been saying 'please wait' now for over 5 minutes

Thinking maybe a Firefox update has deleted some stuff?
Sometimes I get a message after updating saying certain apps not recognised.

They have been doing some updates on the Garmin site over the past month or so, that could throw it out.

What about trying it on another pc? Even take into Evans and see if they can get it to work.

try deleting all the Garmin drivers from the PC. Something may have corrupted. Then just re-install all the software and see what happens.

Got a really long detailed e-mail now from Garmin with a load of suggestions to try, will have a go later and report back.
2 main things seem to be -
reset of the device
Martins suggestion of uninstalling the drivers and re-doing them.

This happened to my 705 today...

First, try plugging it in to the pc whilst holding down the on'off button - keep it held down for about a minute and it should start communicating with the PC.

If not, you need to format it, YOU WILL LOSE ALL THE DATA ON IT THOUGH here's how:

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
Following on from our conversation, please do the following to format
the Edge -
Remove the memory card from the device.
Please format the internal mass storage drive. Use the following
settings:
a. File System: FAT32
b.Volume label: GARMIN
Note: Use the default settings for any other parameters and don't use
the "Quick Format" option for this format.
Restoring the default file system:
After the format please download the zip file from the following link
http://developer.garmin.com/apps/Maps/Garmin_Atlantic.zip
Extract the .zip file to your formatted internal mass storage drive.

Good tip MTF, worked for me. I did a reset yesterday so I have lost my data which I'm not bothered about really, need to do a ride now so it has something to upload to GC,

Quick update.
The Garmin is now back to normal, ended up re-formatting the device in a sh*t or bust attempt to get it working, thankfully it worked

Can now upload to Connect again, phew.
