I popped out on the bike earlier and ended up in halfords having a look and ended up buying a little allen key tool and a small pump that fixes to the bike , so when i got home i thought id unscrew the dustcap and have a look , aaarrrggghh ive never seen these valves before so im not sure if the pump will fit lol any ideas

We need to know what you have bought to provide advice, look on the halfords site and post a link. We also need to know what the valves on your bike look like too. Some pumps have reversible rubber bits in the end but let us know what you have someone here will know.

2 types

some pumps fit both.

You can get a little brass adaptor (ebay) to fit presta for schrader pumps.

To adjust the pump valve connector to fit Presta, unscrew the valve connector cap and rearrange the components as shown in the diagram

Apparently the head is reversible. I assume you unscrew the grey bit in some way but the instructions you got with it should give an idea.
