Just watched a dvd of last years Giro on the amazing stage up Monte Zoncolan, I reckon this has to be the hardest climb on the pro circuit ! Amazing effort from the riders some of whom almost came to a standstill at times.

I tried to freeze frame to see what gearing they might have been using but my freeze frame is too blurred - so - who can tell me, are they likely to be on a 39/53, 42/53, 10-25 , compact chainset or what ?

Think I'd need a triple and at least a 32 on the back (and a bolt on electric motor !)

Generally, flatter stages are on 53-39, mountain stages are on compacts, Time trials are generally done on 56 rings.

11-25 11-28 cassette ranges (I believe)
