Hi All

I bought some Pro-Lite San Martino Aero Wing Road Bars for my Cannondale Six and ive added my old bar tape on for now but ive done the hole bar covering the logo .

My Question is , are these bars surposed to be covered in full tape or just to the name and where the bar goes wider towards the stem ?

It would certantly look better with the brand showing but im not sure what to do as my new bar tape is in the post and should be with me tommorow or wednesday

Any help would be great maybe someone has these bars fitted on there bikes and im still waiting for my system six stem arriving aswell

Many Thanks
Carl

Nice bike Carl.

It sort of defeats the object to wrap the bars all the way up.

If you don't ride with your hands on the middle of the bars then I'd stop at the beginning of the logo as you suggest.

It wont make a slither of difference to you performance wise. Do as is comfortable and suits your riding style (i.e. prefered hand possitions). I have aero profile basebars, they make abolsutelly no noticable difference to performance bare or taped, I tape them all the way to the clamp area, leaving about an inch either side bare. Well they were like that, then I crashed and ripped up the tape on one side, so I stripped a section of the other side to salvage half of the tape to retape the ripped side.

BTW, from those pics (which may be misleading), it looks like the way the bars are mounted has already defeated the purpose, they appear to be tilted upwards so the aero profile is not at its minimum. It might just be the picture or bar tape making it look that way though.

Also, you might want to think about tucking the cables under the bar tape when you get your new tape, that rear brake cable looks like it would irritate after a short while.

Thats the problem with these fancy bars, despite there being some rules of thumb everyone likes their bars angled slightly differently, yet the aero profile (if you are hell bent on using it to its maximum) forces you to use one bar possition. IMO, dont worry too much about this, get the bars set up confortably.

I only use the aero profile on mine as a nice open handed riding possition these days  and to be honesy, I only bought mine because they matched my clip on aero bars, hah.
