I remember being tempted by a Principia Rex about 10 years ago before I bought my Cannondale. I haven't heard much about the company's bikes recently though. (Blimey - I just looked at a review of the latest Rex - they've managed to get the frame weight down from nearly 1.5 kg to 1.14 kg!)

You're really going round in circles trying to choose that new bike aren't you! ^_^

If you really can't decide between the bikes on your shortlist, just pick one at random. You'll enjoy riding whichever one you get!

Yep  . Random selection works for me. If I'm riding a cheap, half-wrecked Carrera and enjoying it I'm sure to prefer anything that's better.

Basically I'd like carbon. But the budget (Ridgeback +£200) won't stretch.
I'd also like 105/Ultegra.
And a decent set of wheels.
Oh, and a non-standard brand.
And I'd like it before the end of February.

And I may have found it. Just need to sort out the order and also sweet-talk Evans into letting me cancel the order and taking the Ridgeback unopened. Which I'd then sell as unused.

Saw the add on eBay for that Principa. It looks like a dam good spec for the money. At that price you could upgrade bits you want and still be cheaper than a Planet x or Ribble with a lesser groupset.

If you are going to accept and then sell the ridgeback then I would look at the Cube range, they are about as well specced for the money as anything.

I have a Principia TT bike. It is my "all the gear and no idea" bike. It is black and shiny and beautiful, but it goes very slowly for a TT bike, because I am a total wuss and get scared at anything approaching speed. (The engine could be better too...)

Planet X will do you a full carbon bike with a mix of SRAM Rival (Ultegra eqv) and SRAM Apex (105 eqv) stuff for £999

And all too small for me! A brand new Ultegra-equipped carbon road bike for £880 - someone's going to get a bargain.

He might say they don't have it when it's there, but it's still listed on eBay. And I made an offer via eBay of £850 which their system has accepted. Oh, and it's now also paid for ...

... I wonder what they'll do next.

Does this form a contract? If they cancel it after payment I'm going to be commenting to eBay ...

That's bad. I had no problem with them ordering bib tights, but that was ony £6! They should have refunded you immediately if they wanted to keep a good reputation - otherwise you begin to smell a large rat.
