I have a problem with a valve leaking when I unscrew the valve to check pressure or to put air in, the valve is fine after I remove gauge or pump the air is p-----g out until you can screw the valve shut, is there anything that can be done to the valve to stop this or do I throw the tube away and get a new one.

I'm struggling a bit with your phrasing, but if you mean that air is leaking from the valve after disconnecting your pump, then either the valve has died or it is sticking in. To be honest I would just change the tube, they ain't gold dust!

Some presta tubes have removable / replacable valve cores.

The trouble is by the time you've brought a new core you might as well of brought a new tube.

Espeshially as yours appears to have a slow leek if it needs pumping up/ checking all the time.
