My valve is leaking.

Location is as per just below the red box. I DO have flats on this, so should be able to remove it.

Any tips on stopping it leaking? Just tighten, or add some sealant?

Aye, just tighten it up.

I had exactly this with new Continental valves.

Done, and looks sorted. Cheers.

It may work its way loose again. I'm using one like this at the moment, and it needs re-tightening every so often.

People on here have mentioned nail varnish and the joint sealing tape that plumbers use as ways to get it to stay in properly, but I haven't bothered so far. I just make sure it's still tight every time I put air in the tyre.

Is this a common problem? For the life of me I can't find the reason for one of my inner tubes going down. I've checked the tyre for debris and the tube for holes but can't find any. Could it really be the valve. I'm off to have a look when I get home.

Get a small container of water, rotate your wheel till the valve is at the 12 o'clock position in the frame and dip the valve in the water and look for a tiny stream of microscopic bubbles in the worst case, biggish bubbles are easier to spot. A few drops of washing up liquid in the water will help as then the bubbles will form on top of the water. Just using spit on your valve does not always show up a leaking valve unless it is a biggish leak.

If the valve is leaking and it is a removable one, remove the valve, apply some thread lock and tighten it up with pliers and then check for leaks again.
