New to presta valves having worked with shrader and decided to check my pressures with my track pump which I needed to use with a presta adaptor. It was of the plastic variety and I think it didnt screw on very well. Also tried my mini pump for practice and found it a right faff, but put it down to not having used presta valves before. Any tips on using presta valves? Sorry to sound like a divvy !

Did not get on using presta adapters myself, got a Joe blow Sport II track pump which fits schrader or presta now and find it easy to use. Also found the links below useful.

I also had the same issue with my original track pump and bought a brass adapter off ebay for very little. Cannot remember the exact site but a quick search will bring up a few options for you should you wish to try that.

I used to get the little brass adapter from my LBS for about a quid. Came with a little rubber seal inside, worked great except I kept losing the little blighters. (I am Dozy though - I once bought an adapter, rode the half a mile home and realised I'd lost it. Had to ride back and buy another one - now the man in the bike shop chuckles every time he sees me.) One day, I bought a bag of 24 from eBay. A week later, I was back in my LBS "can I have another one of those little brass adapters, please?"

I give up. My track pump should arrive later this week.
