presta rim to schraeder rim

can i drill out a rim made for presta tubes in order to fit schraeder tubes?

after deburring the new hole of course

Yes you can, no problem.

I would avoid drilling out a very narrow rim to avoid the introduction of a weak point.

You can, but I wouldn't.

If it's a standard rim for 19-25mm tyres the reason it has a Presta valve is because it is too narrow for a Schrader.

surely drilling is a bad idea - why not just buy a tube with presta valve for £3?
