Hope I've posted this on the correct thread!

Distance eyesight starting to go  so I’ve decided to look for a pair of prescription cycling specs, any recommendations as best type to buy up to approx £250.00.

Have looked at a few on the internet ie: - insert and direct lenses but not sure which ones would be the better choice, any advice on frames and online/offline opticians selling cycling glasses would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

A lot of people on the forum, including myself have cycling specific glasses from Optilabs.
A great service. They will send you frames to try before you buy.
Cost about £160 for Transitions prescription lenses.

I bought a pair from Amazon which took prescription inserts for around £45 and got them "glazed" by my optician. This cost a further £95.

Personally, when I was getting my latest pair of ornery glasses from D & A (now part of Boots IIRC), I bought a pair of Transition lenses, with a frame that is 'heavy-duty' enough to be OK for cycling.

I should add that I do more distance than speed on my rides, so looking like a **"real cyclist" doesn't quite come into it.

**The definition of "real cyclist" will vary according to the square of the number of those questioned.

After doing a search and reading through, a lot of people recommend Bolle Safety Glasses. However, these are not prescription - can you wear normal glasses underneath them and would this work? I am looking for the cheapest option as I am just wearing prescription glasses at the moment and 1) they dont look great with my helmet and 2) when i turn my head in traffic, the small part where i need my lens to be to see traffic behind is blocked by a frame.
