Preparing for 100k sunday

Quick question for you folks... ive got a 100k on Sunday. Have been training for it (have done a 100k, a few 50 milers and have been doing regular 25-35 milers in the last few months).

I did 25 miles yesterday and was planning on doing a final ride before the event tomorrow morning. What sort of distance do you think i should be doing as i dont intend on doing any more riding before sunday after tomorrow.

Should i even go out tomorrow?

If it were me I wouldn't do anymore. Potter with the bike to check tyre pressure, brake pads, chain etc then rest the legs.

Yep, I'm with them, not Beano. If 100km is a test for you, then have 3 or 4 days off beforehand.

What I would suggest, however, is hopping back on your bike the following day, after you've done a long ride, and doing a slow, spinney run.......10 or 20 miles.

Nothing wrong with an hour or more of relatively easy cycling tomorrow, giving you two days of rest before the event. If you have prepared well and been cycling regularly, then you might feel more comfortable keeping yourself active a little bit longer, while still taking it easy so that you are well rested before the event.

Enjoy the ride, but do take a couple of days off beforehand. Get hydrated, keep hydrated. Do a lot of fettling, so everything is in readiness for the event. I've seen many people come to these events as ready as anything, then cannot ride because their bike isn't.

@Mark1978 good luck with it, I have a longish ride tomorrow, was hoping not to go out today but have some errands to run, you will be fine.

Keep riding...

You don't need 2-3 days rest!

Not the same scenario, but I ALWAYS ride the night before a race and then also get up early and do 30-60 minutes on the morning, before packing everything into the van and going to the race. When I say ride, I don't mean just spinning along either.

Went really well, fastest average speed over long distance (just over 15mph), fastest ever top speed and the longest distance i've ever done by just over a mile. Also, the most elevation in a single ride (2700ft)

All that on a heavy 15kg hybrid.

Watching my mate sprint up the hills on his carbon frame was a little bit soul destroying..
