Slightly leftfield choice - the TV tower in Zizkov, get the metro to Jinho z Podebrad.

Take the lift to the top on a clear day for great city views.

I've only been on stag weekends though; our sightseeing was usually of a different nature.

Take a walk from Wenceslas Sq through the Old Town down to the river, then across the Charles bridge up to the castle and cathedral. A great place with loads of cheap bars if you look. The Old Town square is brilliant at night for a scran and a pint.

PS. Keep away from Wenceslas Sq. at night you get stopped every 10 steps by a gronk wanting to know if you`d like a sh*g. It gets a bit wearing.

We went to Prague. We drove there from Berlin, and from what i remember.
Theres hooker shacks on the border my mum thought sold drinks, untill she looked into the windows:laugh:
In Pargue we got waved at(it was car, caravan and a canoe and a kayak on the roof)
The police carry guns
Going by Sparta Prague ground when theres a game about to start means theres traffic, alot of people shouting and cheering while walking down the middle of the road, riot police, police on horses
It wasnt that warm
There were other things aswell, but i wont put them all on.;)

Prague is wonderful, not sure how long you're there for, but here's a few recommendations...

I'd second walking out to Charles Bridge and up to the Cathedral, it's a brilliant city to walk around (and I've also felt very safe each time I've visited).

Hot chocolate and crepes at the Art Nouveau style Municipal House are definitely recommended.

The Maly Bhudda restaurant (up near the castle) http://www.malybuddha.cz/
is a tea-house which serves fresh oriental food if you get fed up with beer and stodge. The Ginger tea is yummy. ;)

For Czech food and beer served next to a roaring fire http://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=366 this place is great just to realax and warm up in (though slightly pricier than some pubs). It's known to us as "Pub Lard" because they have lard on the menu. We thought it was a language mistake so we ordered it. Nope, it was lard, with bacon bits in :tongue:xx(

Good food at good prices and interesting location also to be had here: http://www.prague-life.com/eat/restaurants_details/66-Klub_Architektu

Wemceslas Square looks wonderful at night but cafes and pubs around it are expensive and low quality (I wasn't approached by any hookers!).
If you aren't afraid of heights then climb up the Old Town Hall to get a smashing view of the city, particularly the pointy, gothic Tyn church across the way at Staromestske nam.

If you're interested in the history the Josefov area and Jewish cemetery are sobering, but interesting.

There are loads of interesting and beautifully decorated churches tucked away in squares. We tried to visit all the ones which contained dried bits of saints or severed (twig like) arms etc which had been lopped off thieves 300 years ago and put on display.

The trams and buses are reliable and cheap. If you're travelling from the airport, try to get the bus from the airport to Dejvicka underground station - it's the cheapest way. Otherwise there are fixed fee minibuses from the airport. Taxis have a very bad reputation for fleecing tourists.

Above all, enjoy it.

Been to Prague a good few times and love the place...

If you are intrested in the football give me a shout as we have been to all bar one ground in Prague for a game so can help on how to get there etc.

What to do and see, agree with what has been said before, apart from I have found Charles Bridge totally mobed every time we have been so you can not enjoy it as you are just pushed along in a wave of bodies. If you do not fancy the walk (or even as well walking) get the tram up to the castle (number 20 or something from memory) as you get a great view from that. The castle was quite modern looking to us, but we did not go inside only wandered through the coartyard.

This is a great place for a few beers, about midway between old town square and Wemceslas Square. with the exchange rate in October we were paying just over a pound a pint. U Vejvodu Pub & Beer Hall Restaurant
We ate there one night, and it was fine (tbh it was after a few beers so can not remember anything to much). They do a split roast there which I have always fancied but BF was not keen..

This is another nice wee bar Budvar Bar, there is a beer hall next door (or attached to it)which does great grub but they do get booked up. Again between the two squares roughly, a bit more expensive for a drink, but still cheaper than the uk and a great wee place.

The bars in the old town square (an Irish and Engl*sh one next to each other) are a total rip off (well given the price compaired to places just off the square). We went into the Irish one and had it not been for bumping into friends we would have walked out again, over £25 for two burgers and two half pints. Did not go into the Engl*sh one but understand that is the same.

I could go on and on.....

My son went last year. I believe the weekends are spoilt by drunken Brits. Mind you the BBC Credit Crunch might put a stop to that.

Don't go to Prague, all the lager louts, wedding parties and Cyclechat nutters go there.

Go to Budapest for a really civilised city.

If you stay out of Lagerlout territory in the evening, you won't notice them! My parents went last year and my Dad has a loathing of stag do type blokes...and he totally loved Prague.
