I thought that these were something that elite cyclists were using to give them the extra edge on the tour. Are these the ones that you fit to the crank and cost a few hundred pounds? I've heard that there are now a lot of recreational riders use them. What advantage does this offer a non competitive rider?

None really, I would say.
Unless you're doing some kind of training.
For the vast majority of recreational cyclists; commuting or Sunday rides out I'd say no.

If the system was cheaper then fair enough could be an interesting addition.

You're probably right. I'm going to post another question with regards to electric gears next :rofl:

I think there must be an aero advantage if they have their head down staring at their stems trying to work out what the 'power phase peak angle' for their left leg is. Of course this could be negated by ending up in a hedge.
