For various reasons, i took my sons bike to work t'other day then realised his rear light...wasn't. I was going into town anyway so stopped off meaning to get him some cheap, normal LED lights. No stock damnit...but they had these..

Bloody hell !!!! i taped one vertically to his seatpost, just two bits of insulating tape, they're very very good for the money (a pound not surprisingly)

If you get stuck give them a try..i'll put this one in my saddlebag for emergencies.

Anyone tried them ? can you replace the bartteries and is their battery life very good.

I've got a couple of them. They are great for a bit of extra side visibility, you can replace the batteries although I haven't had to in about three months of half hour commutes. For a quid it is a no brainer.

I bought some from Aldi in the winter bike bonanza.

They are pretty good as reflectives but the electronics leaves a little to be desired. 2 of mine have packed in after being worn in wet weather. They randomly started turning on and changing mode for a few hours before packing in all together. I changed the batteries and still not working.

I still use them as reflectives though.

been using them for the past year. i have one around each ankle and one on the back of my helmet. at £1 each you can't go wrong. i find they last for quite a while but they do suffer if you keep getting them wet, they tend to rust up around the battery.

Great price, might pick a handful up.

As others have said, these look identical to the ones in Aldi, that were £4 for a pair I think. I've found them effective, especially for attracting attention from the side (fewer drivers braking late at junctions).

However, I too have had problems with the electronics - sometimes switching off for no reason, other times refusing to switch off, one led only works intermittently - they really don't like being wet.

Does anybody know any alternatives that are better quality? I want LEDs in addition to reflectives, because I think these help alert drivers pulling out of side roads, long before their headlights make the reflective bit work.

I do the same. I haven't had to change the batteries yet, but have worn these for several long rides. Apparently on one of the FNRTTC rides I looked liked a moving Christmas tree from afar!

I won't laugh

I bought a load

2 are cable-tied to the uprights of my pannier rack - very effective - thoguh one LED on one side has now gone - at £1 each though doesn't matter, I have spares

Handy to have, put a couple around my ankles and arms last night as I wanted to run in the dark in the peak district using my "night eyes" - the red LEDs don't interfere with pupil dilation bul allow me to be seen

Battery life is looooong

Tilt your had 90 degrees to the left - I've also added a second 1/2w Smart light and a couple of the knogg-copy-type rear lights (again from poundland)

I also use a couple sellotaped to my bumper when parked out at ladybower at night - strictly I should have parking lights on but that would flatten my battery so I attach 1 each corner and leave it on constant
