Posting a photo/picture.

I have been trying to put a picture up on here of Dad's Army.I have done the following.Found the picture on Google.Clicked it and SAVED PICTURE in one of my cycling photo folders.
I have then gone to open a new thread.Put in a Title,then a few words of text in the box.clicked upload a file.Found my folder then clicked the image of Dads Army then .Nothing.So today i tried a photo of my Canada holiday.Sam way but then up came too big.Now i understand that.
But why can't the copied image of Dads Army show.What am i doing wrong.Or is it that i don't have permission to use the Dads Army photo.
I must admit my knowledge of computers is a little basic to say the least.

Right click on the google picture you want to link to.
Copy the image URL (copy the shortcut)

Click on the insert/edit image button above. Paste the url and press insert....
