Which raises the interesting possibility of Sky sending Froome, Wiggins and Porte to the Tour. Shame there's no ITT until right at the end as that might've really confused things from a leadership perspective.

and kiryienka too - which is a massive boost for the team - throw in eddie boss, wiggins, eisel and thomas and you got one hell of a team

Maybe, but whether Porte would have actually gone after a tough Giro I'm not so sure given how (relatively) badly some of the Sky Giro team did in last year's Tour. But it's now a moot point.

I think Porte was always going to ride both but now Sky want a super fresh Porte to give Froome all the help they can. The recent form of Contador has really got Sky panicking. Anyone seen Froome's wifes twitter?

I think you're reading too much into it. Porte hasn't finished a race lately and hasn't been able to train properly so he was never going to be fully fit for the Giro.

We will see. Giro is still a month away, he's not that unfit. With froomes " back issues" , felt to me like it was keeping Porte/ wiggins in reserve if he doesn't make it

I reckon if Porte is not riding the Giro then he ain't gonna be fit enough to help anyone in the Tour; he should be riding the Giro to ride into shape.

Did you see that Kennaugh and Kiryenka have withdrawn from the Pais Vasco citing tiredness. I hope Sky aren't screwing up their prep as seemed to happen last year by overtraining in Teneriffe

I haven't really noticed Kiryenka this season. I shall have to go look what he's been riding in.

Sky don't like using races to train, though - too many uncontrollables. Porte was last seen training with Froome so I imagine his condition will be good enough.
