Popping along to the pub

tomorrow, with a group of friends/family. One friend has not ridden a bike, I am informed, for 37 years. And she can become "intensively convivial".

We have a 4 mile each way journey through the Two Tunnels here in Bath so some of us should be literally bouncing off the walls on the way home. I am borrowing a couple of bikes from a good cycling buddy that runs a bike rental shop and am really looking forward to it.

Good luck! I had a similar expedition a couple of weeks ago, it was a lovely afternoon....Here is my Facebook trip report.............

Had a lovely Sunday! As per previous post, stripped and rebuilt back wheel (6 -8 AM!!), not, I know everyone's idea of a good time, but hey... Then out with Chelmer Cycling Club for a really nice tootle to Hatfield Heath, 20 miles out, 15 mile back, Thanks to Mick and the club for an excellent choice of route and a lovely ride. Quick change out of the lycra leotard in to something slightly more socially acceptable, and took my old dad's 20 kilo steel gentleman's 'Town bike' and met with tyro cyclists Phil and Kate for their first cycle ride since god knows how many years, a gentle 5 miles to 'The Walnut Tree' in Broad's Green, near Little Waltham, where some excellent english ale was quaffed in the sunshine, and we met up with the delicious Pamela....Phil and Kate seemed to be getting on just fine with the bikes, so, emboldened by the ale, I decided the return trip was to be off-road... and....... Well sorry to disappoint but no punchline, no horrific and funny accidents, just a nice ride home through the fields....

Have the gout, and can't drink. Luckily the publican in Normal also has Boxty and Shepherd's Pie . He's not from these here parts. He's across the street from a second hand bookstore that is an attraction unto itself, been going there 30 years.
