Just a heads up to anyone who rides the Plym valley ridge ride trail in Plymbridge woods... unfortunately someone has been booby-trapping the trails with a variety of rock, logs etc. The worst spot so far is on the slate steps near the end of the red descent, so please be careful on these!

Although it's a long shot, if anyone is around the area and happens to see any suspicious behavior on the trails please let me know and I'll pass the info on to the National Trust group who look after the trails (they are setting up cameras to attempt to stop the vandalism).

Cheers!

On our trail there's quite an active anti-MTB group around, and I suspect the culpirt is one of the more militant members... Some of the local police ride the trail, and they're keen on catching whoever's responsible.

Piano wire is something else though, don't want to think what would happen if you hit something like that at speed without seeing it. What makes me really cross and sad is that it's most likely to be younger or novice riders who get hurt by these sorts of traps on the trail. Your series of emoticons above says it all!

Usually done by someone who feels entitled and feels their safety is in danger. The irony is they see no proplem causing serious injury or death to the people they oppose.

Sadly it does sometimes end in death and no one ever gets caught. Yes this instance is a motorbike, but I would imagine it doesnt take much force from a piano wire to have the same effect on someones throat.

Its not an isolated incident though and the punishment needs to match the potential for harm, IF they ever get caught.

It's pathetic, round here someone was putting drawing pins across the path by the river Dee. You'd have to be terminally stupid to do this sort of thing as kids and dogs can also be injured by these morons.

Yep, it is quite amazing these people don't seem to appreciate the danger they are putting people in! Unfortunately our resident moron is still at work in Plymbridge woods, on and off... he seems to mostly operate during periods of bad weather (guess he doesn't want to be spotted), so watch out if you're riding the red descent after one. If you see a big pool of water on the trail and have the time to stop and unblock the drain (another of his favourite tricks) you'll get lots of karma points too

We had warnings of some idiot gluing razor blades and glass to the kids slides on the local green a few years back.

Utter scum and hopefully they will get whats coming to them eventually. No reason for it at all..

I think that some of these 'people' are fully aware of what might happen, and get a kick out of it, and thinking that they can get away with it. Like the total psycho f**kwit who tried to shoot me in the head with an air rifle this evening!!! :cursing:

(I can't prove that the culprit was aiming at my head, but the pellet hit the fence only a few inches away from my left ear! I was taking a shortcut down an alleyway at dusk and heard a characteristic 'pfft' sound behind me like the one my old airgun used to make, immediately followed by the pellet ricocheting off the fence and hitting a wheelie bin next to me. I looked round but couldn't see anybody. I'll stick to going down the road next time.)

I hope the boobytrappers get caught. Unfortunately, there are probably hundreds more very happy to take their place.
