Nothing exciting, just a pleasant interlude to counter some of the doom and gloom stories!

Went to Lidl this morning quite early, and had my Mule trailer attached to the bike. Coming home I had to traverse a fairly busy road with lots of bus stops and a couple of priority controlled pinch points. A bus overtook me then a few yards further on stopped at a bus stop, where I passed the bus. we did this three or four times, overtake me, stop, be overtaken by me. We reached the point of waving to each other! The last stop I held back and waved the bus on because just ahead he had to make a sharp left turn, onto a pinch point then a roundabout, and I thought it better for the driver to have a clear run. he pulled away from the stop and the thumb up out of the window was strangely satisfying. Maybe he realised what I was thinking.

I have noticed it before, but when towing the trailer drivers give me a lot more room when overtaking.

Nice when you have a light hearted encounter with a bus driver, i think it does the world of good. Reminds the driver we're human afterall.
Mate of mine trained to be a bus driver years ago....he lasted about 12 months...worst job he'd ever had he said.
Similar to yours chilly...approaching a ASL where i'm turning left, and a bus pull up just behind me waiting for green. As they changed, i motioned the bus past before i set off. A quick 'beep' of thanks and off he went.
Despite being at the front, it's sometimes wise and thoughtful to take second place sometimes.

The good bus drivers are very good and yes there is a heck of a lot of satisfaction seeing a bus driver doing the right thing and then getting a wave or the thumbs up from them.

Unfortunately there are a lot of average/bad bus drivers too.

If you want real room and consideration try towing a trailer with a recumbent trike. I get much more room from most drivers when on the trikes compared to what I used to get on a DF. Add a trailer and they positively fall over themselves to help.

Thats one of the reasons I leave my large Carry Freedom trailer on behind my Trice Q.

Luck ...........

wow- it's not just me that has had "good" encounters with buses - the driver slowed down and let me out on a real busy cross road!
