Play in rear suspension

I've only ever ridden a hard tail bike before, so I'm a little clueless.

My new Rockrider 9.1 has play in the rear suspension. Not sure how long it has had it (it's only a few months old). I was picking it up out of the shed, put it on the ground and noticed it made a loud clunk noise when the rear wheel was dropped. I lifted the saddle and felt play, then looked down and saw that where the shock joined the frame, the two links were very, very loose. I started to tighten the blots, surprised to find them incredibly loose, and now there is no play or noise, but the bolts just keep turning, never getting tight (the manual says 8NM).

Can anyone offer any advise? Is this common? Have I possibly damaged the frame by riding with this play?

As it's new, and it's a Rockrider - just go back to Decathlon - they have a 5 year warranty on frames and two years on parts - they will have it sorted for you.

Just ake it back and say you've got play - they will know what to do - also ask if they will show you how to fix

I managed to tighten it - had to hold the other bolt still, what a numpty I am.

However, after a short ride, it was a little loose again, so I'll take it back to Decathlon Lakeside, (possibly Surrey Quays as it has far, far better bike staff).

Cheers fossyant.
