Plastic Washer In A bb

I dimantled a bb and i found a plastic washer or cup inside that the caged ball bearing sit in

I have never seen one of thse plastic washers / cups in a bb before my question in what is its purpose in a bb and which side should it be fitted is it the chainside or the other side

You sure it's not the spacer for the non drive side?

Yes inside the bb and yes i am running a triple crankset and i am not sue if it is a spacer or not

As i have already said i have never seen one of them before in a adjustable bb

Why would you have a spacer in a bb ?
