Hmm,

This coming Friday evening going to the pub for supper with GF's family; she's finishing work after me so I said I would ride there & car back (to keep her happy)..

Now just thinking about the route and I've almost doubled it................still not very far but we're approaching 20(miles)......if I do most of my early morning short loop first

Well done, you have mastered one of the primary skills in cycling, that of putting in miles and happifying the SO concurrently. You will have to be crafty and imaginative going forward, as you have to concoct new schemes from time to time. Learn from our experienced friends in the political realm, and present cycling in positive ways, such as going to get the groceries while cycling, involving SO in cycling, and using cycling to otherwise help and assist SO, so they do not feel left out by cycling, or see it as an obsession.

I try and commute when possible (22 miles each way), helps my cycling addiction, saves petrol (for more cycle stuff) and keeps swmbo happy as I don't come home from work and then go riding for an hour

Commuting is difficult for me as I'm often working between two sites on the same day and need to move things between the sites.

In answer to your question, it can be, very. If you're still sneaking in extra miles and rides in the cold and dark of next January or February, you'll know you're well and truly hooked.

I live 5 miles from work and regularly do round trips of over 50 miles. My longest commute was done on Tuesday when I did 51 miles into work and then another 27 on the way home.

The less than 3 mile trip to Sainsbury's often becomes a 10 mile trip.

I can remember someone on here posting a commute, where he had extended it to over 100 miles

To answer the last part of this thread's title: yes, and it's already too late, you're hooked . Now excuse me while I go get my next fix... err, I mean bike part...
