Been looking at planet x ALl30 & AL30C wheel sets @ £ 150 . Are they any better than say the shimano trio of R501 RS10 RS30 or SUPRA RA24 all at merlin cycles from £ 77 -130 . would appreciate the input , cheers

Couldn't comment on the others, but very impressed with the RS10's (lugano tyres) as an upgrade to the stock Triban 3's wheel &tyre combo. The bikes characteristics have changed. It was good before, but it's brilliant now.

I have some AL30 set up in a track conflagration they were the lightest i could find for the money been impressed so far stayed true I could really tell the difrferance when climbing due to the extra stiffness they provide, I got white rims at at £50 saving over silver or black so was even more impressed.

Got Planet X A57's and Shimano Rs30's. Both decent wheels for the £££. The Rs30's are quite fast on the flat. I use them for the winter bike. The A57's i use for cyclocross and some winter riding. Both seem bomb proof. Planet X bearings get iffy reviews though. Short life span seems to be the general consensus.

I had a set of X-57's that I had to send back to Planet X (twice). Eventually they got their act together and replaced them with AL30's. I have had them for ages and think they are great. Never gone out of true and wind up to a nice speed

I took off Planet X Model B's at the start of April, their finishing isn't great but I couldn't really fault the wheels they were the lightes for the money and they've stayed true and roll well and they'll be going back on later in the year and I'll replace them with Planet X AL30's when they wear out.

Thanks for replying fella ,
Think I'm leaning towards the AL30's over the Cheaper shimano' s although they get good reviews as well .
Probably the "c" version to cope with Sheffield's proxy roads lol .
