planet x sl pro advice on sizing.

Hello All,

Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on what size I should go for.

Im 6" 1" with a 34 inside leg I currently ride a 58cm Spez and to be honest find this a little stretched.

According to the planet x sizing guide I am roughly at the top of the scale for a large which has a 570mm top tube length and a 165mm head tube which worries me.

I want a large but being a compact frame means lots of seat tube showing and im worried I will effectively run out !!??. Also my Spez has a 225mm head tube so thats a really big drop and might be to extreme for me.

I suppose what im asking is has anyone else been in a similar situation with a sl pro ?. I rang them and they initially advised Large but im not so sure and there is no chance I can get up there to try one.

Hi bb - I'm 6' and ride a large Planet X compact frame although not carbon. The L is fine for me, XL would be too big, there's plenty of scope on mine to fit a taller rider.

There are a few PX riders on here, I know topcat1 has got a lovely white carbon PX and he's daahn the smoke, not sure what size it is though - his bike that is not London!

I am just about 6 foot, 34 inch inside leg and a positive 'ape' (i.e. the length of my arms outstretched fingertip to fingertip is actually longer than my body).

I rode an XL Focus Cayo which was spot on.

I just got a Planet X Pro Carbon Large. It is bigger than the XL Cayo, and I had to have a 90mm (i.e. shorter) stem fitted to get the size spot on. I was on the cusp of the large being too big.

Therefore, if you are 6 foot 1, I suspect it will be spot on for you with the 110mm stem.

I would strongly suspect the XL would be too big for you.

Thanks for the replies I spoke to Planet X today and gave some more measurements, Im going to go for a Large should be ok I reckon.

Just need to decide on the colour now !?

Mine is red and looks pretty good.

I was however impressed with the white when I saw it there the other week- it is not white per se but a whitish/ silverish/ perlescent colour- really quite smart and I would have seriously considered it had I not picked the red.

I wanted to avoid black as it is the most common colour.

I got the red with black tape, and got them to put some red hoods on the levers.

I just placed my order pending my voucher I've also gone for the red for the same reasons you mentioned.

I'm a little pissed off as the model b wheels that were standard yesterday are now extra.

Can I ask did you upgrade the chainset from the SRAM apex one ? If not how do you find it ?. Also I heard the conti ultra sport tyres are not very good so I'm going to have to chop these in aswell !? It all adds up in the end.
