Hello cyclechatters, long time no post.

Really simple question. My old Trek commuter is knackered and it's time for an upgrade. Mainly a ride to work machine but with weekend spins in mind and the odd Sportive.

I was very much drawn to the Planet X as it looks like a good solid bike and is very well specced especially as Ultegra is back on for 1200 quid.

But a colleague mentioned the Gran Fondo as an amazing machine. With Ultegra is costs about the same as the Planet X, and to be honest, I'd probably be tempted by dropping the groupy down to 105 and plumping for better hoops.

Cyclechat. I need your help. I know there's a big PX cohort on here, and I'd never considered Ribble until now.

Any thoughts welcome.

Cheers

I had a Ribble Sportive carbon and was very pleased with it (as no doubt the little b@+*$%d who nicked it is). I now have a Giant defy advanced carbon and can definitely tell this is a better frame.......more responsive.
A LBS told me that Ribble will go to the supplier and say e.g. we want X number of frames and are prepared to pay £X for them..........they get what they get for the money. Similarly with PlanetX.
As I said........for the £1200.00 I spent I was very happy with the Ribble....same 105s and better wheels BUT it is not as good as the £1800 Giant I now have (which is logical).

Both decent frames. Well equipped and for a good price.

Personally I've dealt with both companies, ( I have a planet x rt57) and would take planet x over rubble any day.
