I recently bought some Winter gloves from Planet X (http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CLPXWGLV/planet_x_winter_cycling_gloves) and while they're great value for money, warm, etc, they don't have any grip on the fingers. The palm and thumb has some sort of rubber strips on them but the fingers are just material which means that my fingers are slipping off of the brakes and two fingered braking while on the drops is impossible.

Does anyone know any DIY tips on how to make these gloves work? They are good and I would like to use them but I don't want my fingers slipping off of my brakes causing me to crash!

I have a similar problem with a pair of my gloves that are great but as you say, no grip.

The thing I'm thinking of doing is using some clear silicone sealant smeared thinly over the fingertips to about the first joint. Should work ok as its flexible when dry and will adhere and soak in to the cloth giving some durability.

+1 for trying silicone sealant. I'd clean the material with alcohol in case it's got any DWR finish on it and mask off the rest of the gloves, then scrub the sealant well in, otherwise I reckon it'll be liable to peel.

BTW, I bought those same gloves in a XL size, for my M/L hands and had to return them - way too small for anything other than a small hand. Good gloves otherwise.

I also have the same gloves from Planet X, they are indeed very warm and great value for money. I havent encountered any problems with them slipping and I cycle in all conditions. It maybe worthwhile checking both the surface of your brakes and the position/reach of the hoods for your grip.

How thin are they ?
I could do with a thin , warm glove to go under my neoprene gloves as i suffer with cold hands and my liners are not cutting it.

They're fairly thick and I doubt you'd be able to use them under another pair of gloves, they're quite tight fitting. The size chart was fine for me though, the medium fits good.

Surely grip tape on the levers would be easier & cheaper?

Sounds like a better idea than modifying the gloves, any suggestions on what tape to buy?
