I have just fitted the clipless peddles that have been in the garage for the last few months and am going to give them a try tomorrow en route to work. I have tried a couple of goes up and down the road outside my house and seem to get on with them.

Anyhow, give it is an 11 mile ride to work for me in the morning any bets on the following

1) Number of times I feel the need to adjust something on the pedals - and then unadjust it.

2) Number of times I think "oh F***" as I forget to unclip going up to a junction.

3) Number of attempts it will take me to clip in with my second foot when pulling away from any stops.

4) Chances of me having my first "clipless moment" when I arrive in the office carpark.

5) Chances of the normally empty car park being full of people if/when number 4 happens

Wait, is a clipless moment falling over due to being clipped in? If it is, I had mine on the first day, I was trying to climb a hill, didn't know the gearing system properly, so I tried to put my feet on the ground but forgot I was clipped in, so I fell over >:[

1. No Idea
2. Once
3. Alot of attempts
4. 20%
5. 10%

Well made it in without any disasters, I suspect cause as people say I was so paranoid about remembering to upclip that I was thinking about it ages before each time I was going to have to do it.

Has it made a difference to my speed?? Perhaps... average speed was a bit higher than normal but I will use them a bit more before making a full judgement.

Well done be be aware!!!!

clipless are nasty animals, they let you get your first ride out the way care free then when you think you have them cracked you wll stop at a T junction and over you go, trust me it happends part of becomming a cyclist i belive.

I found it didn't make much difference for a few rides until I got into the swing of things. Still notice it the most on upwards inclines.

I've survived three weeks without a clipless moment but after skidding yesterday I keep thinking that, if I come off, there's no way I'll get my feet out in time.

Well Done Marooncat,

I look forward to the day I take the leap!

On a side note, a few years back a work colleague rode up to the security gate on his shiny new motorbike, came to a halt, reached inside his jacket for his pass and then realised as he passed 45 degrees of lean that he had forgotten to put his feet down!

At least we have the excuse of being clipped in.
