Just got mine - after riding an mtb this is a differnt riding experience. I didn't realise how fast you could go off road.

Just googled it and read the review on Bikeradar. Nice looking bike mate. One glaring omission from the review is the make/model of brake - a cyclocross obsession. So, what brakes does is have? Look like mini-vs in the photo but difficult to tell.

and will you be racing it?

Cheers - 2009 model Avid shorty 4 cantilever. No fork judder and grippy. Have had hydraulic disks in the past (on Genesis mtb) and they were amazing but I did have issues with rear rotor binding), I was originally going for a spec. comp tricross but saw a lot of threads about brakes/forks. I spoke to a tech guy at Chessington and he said Spec Tricross did have issues with the cantis overpowering the front fork causing feedback so they switched to mini v ... then people complained about the reduced power - so they strenthened the crown and reverted to cantis. After all that mucking about I still hear some negative sentiment. The big upside to this bike for me is the simplicity. The weight is good enough at 21lbs and the rear carbon stays plus front carbon forks give it nice smooth ride.

The only sh1t component is me. Fitness levels - terrible right now. But the bike makes me want to get fitter and that was the whole point of it. Then I might race (though I live in SW London!)

There are a number of cross events at Herne Hill during the cross season, a couple at Hillingdon, plus a good number of events a bit further out.
