I'm interested in the Pinnacle Dolomite 5. Here is a size chart for them:

http://images.evanscycles.com/produ...d-geometry-guide--dolomite-disc-mens-2016.pdf

I currently have a Triban 3 in size 57. I've had it a few years now and while to my beginner self back then in the shop it felt fine now I've had a few years riding under my belt it feels too big. When I pushing it I feel as though I'm that far forward on the saddle I'm nearly falling off. I've been in a few bike shops looking at stuff and mention the size and they all reckon it sounds big for me. I'm 5' 9" so according to Decathlon I was either a 54 or 57.

I nearly bought a Vitus Zenium VR last year. Chain Reaction thought a 54 was my size. Here is a size chart for them:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/vitus-bikes-zenium-vr-disc-road-bike-2016/rp-prod135401#2016Alloy

When comparing the effective top tube lengths the medium in the Pinnacle looks to be about a 56 while the small is a 54. The small size Pinnacle is only 2mm different than the 54 Vitus in effective top tube but is smaller by a cm or two everywhere else. The height guide on the Pinnacle states for 5' 4" to 5' 7" but I 've read that isn't the most useful information when picking a size and indeed doing that with my current Triban has left me with too big a bike.

Any opinions on the sizes of the two bikes above?

I ride a Pinancle Pyrolite which has the same geometry as the Dolomite
I am also 5'9" with a 31" inseam and the medium fits very nicely.

I think my inseam is 31 too. Must check. Do you find yourself too stretched out on the medium?

I can fit on the Triban ok but I have to get very low into a race position to do it and I wouldn't always cycle like that. I'd be more upright at times as well.

I might take the handlebars off the Triban and try and keep them at the effective top tube lengths of the Dolomite and see how that feels. I'll ask Evans too and see what they recommend.

No, not stretched out at all. As I said, very comfy.

As what Lady Vickster said.. go to Evans and have a try.

I'm about 5'10" and have the medium. Picked my "6" up on Tuesday so only ridden it for 2 days, but I'm loving it!
Go down to your local Evans and take one out for a test ride. It's a great way to find which bike is right for you.

Oooh..pics please.
I am sooooo tempted to get one. As I mentioned earlier I own a Pyrolite 2 and a lovely bike it is too. It's coming up to 2 years old and has done a fair few miles in all weathers, taken me from Switzerland to home including ascending and descending mountains.
Evan's really have got it right with these bikes.

I will wait though until they start discounting them later in the year/next year to chance a bargain.

It's locked up nice and safe right now, but I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.
It's a big change from the Trek DS8.3 that I have used til now. I got close to a 40% discount with Tesco vouchers. Can't argue with that!

I'm in Belfast though. There are no Evans here. Nearest appears to be Glasgow? Return flight is £50. Hmmmm

@harveymt I would give the Braehead store a call and see what they recommend. They will get the right bike in for you to test ride. They do want a deposit which will go towards the bike if you want it, or they give it back if you don't. Then all you need to do is to pursuade them to give you a small discount to cover the costs of travel...

@ianrauk wanted a picture...

I got the mudguards for the wet weather. They will be coming off as soon as it warms up.

Did you test ride the 5? Any noticable between the brakes on the 5 and 6?

To be honest, I'd much prefer the 6 mainly as it's black. The Triban is red as is the 5 which sort of puts me off slightly as they look similar.

I'm doing it through cycle to work though so it mightn't be possible. I've had different information from the HR people. Some say definitely no and others reckon I might get it depending on what the invoice says. I might play dumb and try for the 6, failing that get the 5.

Oh and how do you find the wheelset? I hadn't heard of AlexRims till this bike.

No I didn't ride the 5 but I did try it on the turbo in shop. It's the first time I have been on a road bike for 30+ years so there's a world of difference from what I remember. Down-tube shifters being the most obvious. The gears shifted "OK" on the 5, but I was edging towards the 6 anyway. Decided to ask for a test ride of the 6 but had to wait for them to get the right size in. 3 days later it was in so popped in on my way back from work. Quick adjustment of the saddle height and I was off. Gear changes were flawless (even though they warned me nothing had been fully set up). The bike just flew! Very impressed with the discs too. All the stopping power you could want (and probably a whole lot more once fully bedded in).
I don't know too much about C2W deals other than you don't own the bike until you pay the balance at the end of the year (or any extension) so you keep paying for it even if you lose it. People at work tell me you used to pay 5% at the end of the year and it was yours. Now you have to pay around 25% so it's not the deal that it used to be. Not sure you can extend the £1k limit to the price of the 6 so that would need looking in to.
No idea about the wheelset in comparison with others. They work for me!

Dolomite 6 is nice but the paint is the softest paint I've ever seen. Drop a Haribo on the frame and it will chip. The Matt black looks great but shows up every little mark easy.
