Just been for a quick spin to the local shops to get a couple of ingredients my wife needed for the Christmas cake. The bike for this job is my hack fixed wheel, a bike with the barest of minimum parts. The wheels have big tires that I had just pumped up.

Part of the route is through a shopping centre that is getting a new layout to the car park. All sorts of diversions through it and temporary surfaces, but very busy on a Saturday afternoon.

On the way back I was riding along a particularly bad bit when my front tire pinged a stone out into the side of a passing car that it hit with a loud thunk. All stopped. After a little chat, the driver accepted it was one of those things and we went on our respective way.

I think id have been inclined to cycle on as if i wasnt aware of any problem with stone hitting car and acted terribly surprised if i was accosted by angry motorist someway down the road.
Glad to see your preparing for christmas in good time.

Get this all the time. 130psi rear wheel pings the stones out like mad. Not had anyone bring me up on it.

It is one of those things but I get a bit cheesed when cars pass cyclists at speed in 'Loose Chippings' areas, if one of those chips hit us it could do a lot more than a scratch; touch wood though the worst I've had is a rap on the shin.
