I have started doing evening rides along the cycle paths around Harlow on the BSO mountain bike (Apollo XC26). Tonight just after 7pm I came to a junction where I wanted to turn left, but a large group of cyclist came towards me along the path I wanted to turn into. There must have been about 30 of them. I didn't know we had 30 cyclists in Harlow! Anyway, they completely took up the path and the junction so I stopped and let them go. Not one of the pig ignorant mothers showed the courtesy of a simple nod or a thank you. If I see them again I will ride right through the middle of them and see how many I can scatter. I expect they are the ones who moan about lack of courtesy from car drivers.

I have no idea who they were or from where.

A cheery shout of "Don't mention it!" sometimes does the trick... and if not then at least you amuse yourself.

Costs Knothing does it? just a cheery thank you. I always thank walkers when they gather their dogs to let me past or drivers when they show courtesy with a wave or nod of the head, even a good morning or good day to other cyclists, makes for a better environment.

Fact of Life: Any large group be it cyclists, walkers or motorists or louts will behave worse than the individual.
Unless they are controlled.

The IQ of a group of people is the IQ of the least-intelligent member, divided by the number of members.

Where they wearing fluorescent vests with 'SkyRide' on them by any chance?

I didn't notice to be honest.

They did all have HiViz vests on, and seemed a wide range of ages, bikes and I expect abilities.

It doesn't really matter now. I had my moan, now I have put it behind me and forgotten it. Life's too short to let things fester.

You should try cycling in Belgium - saw hundreds of cyclists (commuters, kids, roadies etc.) - shouted/waved to just about everyone and got not one single acknowledgement! Once we crossed the border into Holland things were completely different

As I've always said, an ignorant and inconsiderate ****** is the same whether he/she is riding a bike, motorbike or driving a car. It's to do with the person, not their mode of transport.
