I tried a Marin Toscana the other day at a local store which was the perfect size. The trouble is I can't remember what size it was.
While I was there I took a photograph of the bike. Can anybody edit this image so that the frame size can be read?

I've now found this bike second hand but I don't know if its the right size.

I', 5'9" and normally ride a 56cm road bike will I fit on a 56cm Marin?

Can't help you with the editing, but can you not just ring the shop and ask?

I could just go back to the shop and look; but as i'm not going to buy the bike from them it seemed a bit cheaky.

Having finally found the frame sizes / bottom bracket height out I've managed to calculate the relevent sizes. You need a 33" leg to ride the 56cm model, There is absolutely no way I could stand over a 56 without being on tip toes. The top tube is nearly 58cm too, way too long.

Don't think it is cheeky at all asking the shop. As OP said, phone 'em up and ask.
They don't know you are not going to buy.

Phone them up for sure.

I phoned my LBS to check mine seeing as this thread has worried the hell out of me now, and I have ordered a 56cm and even though it should be too big for me it felt good when I tried it out.

Phone them, you may be surprised.

I have been and looked at the bike I originally tried. It is a 54. I'm 5'9" , 32" leg. I can only just stand over this bike. Although they didn't have a 56 in stock it was very clear that it would be far too big.

The stand over height of the 56cm bike is 81.5cm, 32". So to ride the bike comfortably you would need at least a 33" inside leg. The top tube is 56.5 (shorter than I originally thought)

There's a few sizes listed here.

Oh dear, you are really panicking me now!

I can only hope I have made a mistake with the size that I tried out because the one that I rode felt good.

So where does it put you with yours? Was the one you found the right size?

The two bikes i've now found secondhand are both 56cm frames and are far too big for me. I will just keep saving / looking for something similar secondhand.

I think I want a 54cm frame for road use, or a 50cm frame for off-road use.
(Off-road I would want a 2/3" standover clearance and a relatively short 54cm top tube to give an upright riding position)

Is the best I can do, and this is at a maxxedout resolution.....

Looks to me like a 54cm.....BUT I MAY BE WRONG...

I have to add that the seat height is very high....!

It is a 54. After all that i've ended up going back to the shop to look.

It is a compact frame / sloping top tube so the seat isn't actually very high at all, the saddle is only just higher than the bars!
